Artist's Comments

Because alot of people over the years have asked me how I draw my Digigrade legs on my furries :)

Now, mind you, this is not THE ONLY WAY to do do this...but this is the way I draw it :) Just to give you a rough idea of how I do the pencils and stuff :)

I want a tutorial for how you do your lineart. They vary in widths!! *stares in awe*

Actually, I've done a number of Animated Oekaki drawings on * forrest-dreams's Oekaki board :) You'll need to have Java (or JavaScript, whatever it is) enabled in order to see the animations :) Click the link below:

[link];pageno=4

The following on that page has animations that you can click on: HollyAnn, Janus (although I accidently spelt it "Janis") and Silverfox :) Under the actual picture, it'll say "View Animation" and a separate window will pop up and the Java will load :) From there, you can also control how fast you want to view the animation (M - I think that's for Medium or something), but you can put it on slow to really get a good look at it :)

All of those were drawn with my tablet, but it's the way I always I do my drawings: I pencil it in, then ink it in, erase the pencils, and then I go over with the inking pen again to put the wide lines and stuff :) I was working in layers in the Oekaki there, so I was able to do the erasing of the "pencils" easily with that, as well as putting backgrounds in there without it harming the character ;)

In reality, I honestly don't know what parts SHOULD have the thicker lines...since I don't really have any proper training in art (or in any of this stuff) I just ink it the way I think it looks good :) I'm probably doing it all wrong, for all I know...but it's definately a start in the right direction, I think :)

I hope that helps! =D

This is great! I always had trouble drawing feet and this is one of the most helpful guides I've come across (infact the only good one I've found so far)

As you said about just drawing; I do the same thing, I'm still picking up on the tricks of the trade and I just sort of draw what I think is suppost to look good. More often then not though I mess up though. T.T

Thanks again for the guide!

In the grand scheme of things, anything and every thing you do is utterly pointless; but since me saying that is also utterly pointless, you should proble just carry on doing what you were doing.

Yay! This will help me out. I've been really studying everyone's digi-leg styles so I can work on my own. Thanks for posting this :)
