Erasmus Scroll

There was a reason why I did the illumination of this scroll - I made it because I wanted to do the illumination for my husband's AoA award in the SCA!

I'm so sneaky! He didn't know a thing about it! I even showed him the blank scroll, and he thought it was it was just a random blank scroll I was submitting to the Tiger Signet to be used as someone's AoA...all the while, I had sent a note to the Signet, asking if she could reserve this scroll for whenever my hubby won his AoA.

The reason why I originally chose this design? The original manuscript that I got it from is from Germany 1500's. My husband's persona is Swiss 1500's (close enough!). Plus, he LOVES dragons, and he loves purple and green, which is why I changed the dragon's colours from blue and yellow to purple and green, making it a lot more personal to him

I pretty much had to not mention it at all that this was for him (well, I told some people, but they kept the secret!) until it was safe to say that he got the award

And he just got it this past Saturday when we were at Mimir's Well (an SCA event that our shire was hosting)!
