Puffy Paint Tutorial

Alot of people have asked me how I do my "3D" effects on my custom My Little Ponies, so I put together a very quick tutorial on how I make shapes using puffy paint. The photos aren't the best, but then again, I'm right-handed, and it's awkward taking pictures when you're not left-handed

Materials needed: Puffy Paint (aka 3D paint...you can find them at any craft store, in the T-shirt section. That's all they are...T-shirt puffy paint); round pointy toothpicks; a paper plate. To practice on, I usually just use the paper plate. It's always best to practice before actually applying it to ponies.

1. The stuff that we'll need: puffy paint, a round pointy toothpick, and a paper plate.
2. Be sure to shake the paint a bit before starting. For this tutorial, we're going to do a heart. Squirt two blobs next to each other.
3. Using the toothpick, "join" the blobs together by "sculpting" the paint with the toothpick. Clean the toothpick by just scraping it along the plate. It's best to keep the toothpick clean.
4. To make the bottom of the heart, go to the left blob and "drag" the paint down. Repeat with the right blob, and then just shape the paint, using the toothpick. Clean the toothpick again
5. Smooth it all out, using the toothpick, and then you've got a puffy heart! Let the paint dry for a good while...like half a day to 24 hours.

To make a flower: make 5 blobs all in a circle. Place the toothpick in the centre of one of the blobs and drag it into the middle. Repeat for the other 4 blobs. Let the paint dry completely, and then add a centre colour (like yellow). Smooth out the round centre blob and let it dry.

To make a cloud: Make one large blob, with several little blobs all around it, evenly spaced. Then just use the toothpick to shape it into the cloud.
